About Campus
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Purulia was established in 2004 under school Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal in compliance to achieve the goal in the National Policy of Education, 1986 to play a meaningful role in the State education system. It is situated in Purulia Block-II at Bangabari, V-Nagar at a distance approx. 3 KM from Purulia Railway station and 3.5 KM from Purulia Bus Stand.
It was established to cater to the needs of Elementary teachers of the district for improving the quality of Elementary Education. It is recognised by NCTE and WBBPE. It is a Bengali medium co-educational residential institute. Since its inception, DIET, Purulia has been conducting in the area of a) Pre-service teachers’ training b) Need based in-service teachers’ training c) Development of curriculum, training modules and teaching learning materials d) professional development of teachers and teacher educators e) Action researchs, innovations and best practices. It attempts at complete manifestation & growth of the potential of the trainees through the processes of learning & character building.

To generate efficient teachers equipped with diverse teaching skills and competencies, to provide guidance in achieving excellent teaching traits as well as classroom transaction modalities with a view to ensure continuous quality improvement of school education in the district for holistic development of children with a complete personality, self-discipline, spirit of co-operation, innovative ideas, scientific temper and zeal.

Principal’s Message
As nodal organisation/agency for teacher training in the district, the institute provides the students to gain knowledge, skills and attitude aligned with educational system to establish a dynamic, cooperative and supportive teaching learning environment where cognitive, physical, mental and emotional development for trainee students are to be ensured. It is our challenges to establish Continuous professional development of teachers and teacher educators, sound Community linking, high levels of collaboration and communication and effective school leadership to enhance the qualitative and quantitative improvement of elementary level of education in the district with a goal of social equality, trust and values. It is ensured that our students as worthy citizens will always strive to uphold the dignity of our institute and keep its flag ever flying high. I wish our students all success in their end eavours.
